The clamp adapter sanitary fitting is made of stainless steel 304 and has a tube connection and a female NPT threaded connection. This adapter fitting connects pipes or fittings with different end types. It clamps onto a tube on one end and has female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on the other for connecting to male threaded pipe. The clamp end creates a non-permanent seal, providing access to lines, and the NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads. It is made of stainless steel 304 for resistance to corrosion and high temperatures and has a maximum operating pressure rating of 250 pounds per square inch (psi) at 70 degrees F ambient temperature. This clamp adapter sanitary fitting is suitable for use in food, beverage, and dairy applications.
National Pipe Taper (NPT) are a standardized fitting that is commonly used for joining pipe. Due to the tapered threads (wider diameter at the base of the threads, similar to a trapezoid) the male fitting will tighten the further it is threaded into the female. NPT follows the technical standards provided by the American National Standard Pipe Thread standards, often called national pipe thread, which is where the confusions with NPT arises, as NPT is specifically an acronym that refers to tapered pipe.
National Pipe Straight (NPS) are straight thread that is sized to be compatible with common water heater elements and should be compatible with most NPS straight threads.
Determining NPT/NPS Size:
Sizing NPT/NPS is based on the nominal pipe diameter, and not the ouside diameter (OD) of the threads. For example: A 1/2" NPT male has an outside thread diameter of approximately 3/4", but as stated the correct NPT size is 1/2", including the counterpart female.
Notice: While NPT and NPS threads may be joined together, their threads may not create a proper seal, be loose fitting, or not form an optimal connection.
Pipe and tube fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. Sanitary fittings are used in the food, beverage, biotech, pharmaceutical, and other sanitary process industries to transport fluids through pipe lines and are available in a range of materials, finishes, and shapes. When purchasing fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size, and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness).
